The sparkling waters, luscious surrounding forests and beautiful beaches make it a genuine rural retreat for picnickers, nature-lovers, bikers, trekkers, and anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in Rome. For those a little more active, horseback riding, sailing and mountain biking are also available.

The Majestic Ordescalchi Castle sits atop Lake Bracciano, in the town itself. The Grand 15th Century building has been kept in fantastic condition and features guided tours of its richly decorated rooms and museum. The atmosphere is impressive and the view, spectacular. A must see!

Trevignano is dominated by the ruins of a castle built in the XIIIth century and named after the Orsini who acquired it in 1378. It was extensively damaged towards the end of the XVth century when the sons of Pope Alexander VI attacked the Orsini possessions around the lake.

You can visit it by walking through the old historic centre of Trevignano, towards the parish church, Santa Maria Assunta, and up some modern steps to the entrance of the fort, where you will find some spectacular views.
